Forestation is one of the solutions to reduce CO2 emissions. Thus, this paper investigates the possible impact of reforestation on CO2 emissions in Vietnam during 1990-2019. Data in the study is collected from the World Bank. The study uses a Vector Auto Regression model (VAR) to analyze the relationship between reforestation and CO2 emissions. The research results show that forest coverage has a negative impact on CO2 emissions in Vietnam. On the other hand, the results also suggest that there is a two-way relationship between urbanization and CO2 emissions in Vietnam. Based on the findings, the Vietnamese government can reduce CO2 emission by increasing forest coverage, harmonizing between urbanization and economic growth toward green development and forest protection. This study is significant to the solutions of tackling climate change by providing evidence of the effects of reforestation on CO2 emissions in Vietnam. ER -
